Abstract

RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) is an identification system using radio waves. In this research, an RFID system is built to detect the presence of transjakarta bus in every bus stop. This RFID system was designed using AVR ATMega16 microcontroller, YS1020UA and YS-C20S RF data transceiver. ATMega16 is used as chip where data ID of tag stored. Data ID from microcontroller will be transmitted by YS-C20S RF data transceiver through serial communication. Data transmitted by YS-C20S is received by YS1020UA as the reader and then the data will be forwarded to local computer at the bus stop through RS232 serial communication. Data from local computer will be saved to database at server computer. The database can be accessed by another computer in every bus stop. The performance serial communication between YS-C20S and YS1020UA can be obtained by changing range of transmission of 5 meter, 15 meter, 20 meter, 30 meter, and 35 meter. Result of the experiment obtained the optimal range transmission is less than 30 meter. Serial communication between tag, reader and pc is done in baud rate 9600bps, this is done because baud rate 9600 is optimal baud rate in speed and less bit error.
