Abstract
Orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) is a technology designed to resist interference caused by the signal signal multiple path, it is a potential candidate for Fouth Generation (4G) mobile systems. The disadvantages of OFDM is high Peak to Average Power Ratio (PAPR), non linearity concerns and phase noise. The goal of this project is to analyze two solution methods to reduce high PAPR, by comparing Signal Clipping Technique and Selective Mapping (SLM). Clipping method is recommended to reduce PAPR if we can ignore the degradation in SNR and BER. But for weaker signal and hostile environment, we recommend to use SLM method to reduce the PAPR using matlab 7.1.
