Abstract

The decline in the sense of respect and religious tolerance in the community in Pasean Village, Pamekasan Regency, related to differences in understanding and beliefs, has created a split in social solidarity. This study aims to analyze the community and the congregation of the Fisabilillah mosque with the nuances of the concept of moderation in religious moderation as initiated by the Ministry of Religion, as a bridge for harmonization and tolerance for peace and harmony in the village. The research subjects consisted of the local community, community leaders, mosque imams, the congregation, and the younger generation. The research method is case study, addressed to the public and the academic. Data collections were carried out by observation and direct interviews with informants and research subjects. Analysis was performed by display, reduction, and verification of data. The results obtained consists of specific and general mosque functions. The specific function of the mosque is devoted to programs of religious moderation activities, such that the mosque congregations, the local community, and the younger generation are given insight into religious tolerance. As for the general program, the mosque takmir focused on the younger generation and students. The activities among others are: First, the programs for mosque youth activities have increased significantly, accompanied by mosque takmir; Second, mosque takmir involves RISMA (mosque youth) in every religious activity, and Ramadan activity; Third, collaboration with the local community such as community works, study schedules, Friday sermons and monthly recitations organized by the takmir. As an obstacle to mosque activities is the lack of awareness from parents regarding religious values and tolerance, which is sometimes followed by the younger generation. The alternative provided by the takmir of the mosque is training, spiritual studies that lead to religious moderation, anti-corruption training, all working with nearby campuses in Pamekasan, such as IAIN Madura, University of Madura, Madura Islamic University, and STIT Al-Khairat Pamekasan. Each campus held programs such as KKN or community service activities which encourage mosque takmir and youth to religious moderation and tolerance for religious harmonization, especially in understanding similarities and differences. This mosque-based research has contributed to the harmonization of villages and villages in Pamekasan inline with the outcome of the religious moderation policy launched by the Ministry of Religion.
