Abstract
Teaching Arabic in Arabic literature courses in the Faculty of Literature, University of Al Azhar Indonesia, started in 2000, the year UAI is established . Twelve years running, however the teaching team still detect a need of improvement in the level of success achieved, both of in teaching materials and language proficiency that are expected. This research was conducted to obtain data on the perception of Arabic literature’s students in the Faculty of Literature, UAI regarding the learning process that is being carried out, which is divided into five sections : Their perceptions concerning the goal of Arabic language proficiency, teaching materials, the application of teaching methodology, the course lecturers of Arabic Literature and their view on the evaluation techniques used by the course lecturers in Arabic Literature Studies UAI. The results of this research are expected to be an evaluation process material for Arabic study in Arabic literature courses in UAI, as well as curriculum development in the future.
