Abstract
Waste has been a society problem which is harm for the human's environment and healthy. In University of Al Azhar Indonesia which have a wide yard, it produces organic waste such as green waste (litterfall). This waste have a potential to be processed for compost, that can be useful not only for plants but also have an economic value. Composting process can ve accelerated by adding activator. The aims of this research are knowing the effects of three activators (UAI's students made compost, cow dung, commercial compost) to the physical and chemical condition conditions of compost. The physical and chemical conditions of compost medium are measured by several parameters such as pH, temperature, relative humidity (rH), C:N ratio, the content of carbon, the content of nitrogen (organic & inorganic), the value of cation exchange capacity, those parameters are also be used to measure compost quality. This research showed that adding different activators in compost medium, can give different impacts for physical and chemical conditions of compost mediums. And from this research, we also knew that the best activator among 3 activators is UAI's students made compost.
