Abstract

Film would be considered or viewed in many perspectives, such as tools of communication, art works, and others. Referring to the history, current and past, film has taken central position in society, in Indonesia and whole the world. This research aims to find out the influence of the film on the attitude of the indigenous adolescents on Chinese ethnic in Indonesia. Some researches and authors deliberate and find that films influence significantly to their audience. Film “Ngenest: Kadang Hidup Perlu Ditertawakan,” one of popular movies in Indonesia tells about Chinese ethnic in Indonesia (racial experience or self-outflow being Chinese in Indonesia). The Stimulus-Organism-Response (SOR) Theory and Social Cognitive Theory took as the framework of this research that allegedly relate to the problem which is a able designate a process of imitation and identification. Used quantitative methods, based on positivism paradigm this study was done. The data collected from cross-sectional survey on 100 respondents who watched the film, 12-25 years old, and the indigenous. Finally, this research found that the correlation of these two variables was -0.031 with very low association and in negative polar, the value of significant was 0.761 which means that hypothesis (ha) was rejected and null hypothesis (ho) received, indicating there was no influence of film towards audience attitude, in case of this research was attitude of the indigenous adolescents on Chinese ethnic in Indonesia.
