Abstract

Computer is humans` essential device today. It`s used in almost every single aspect on their lives, almost like three times a day meals and spiritual needs. In today`s society, even the simplest thing is already replaced to computerize from manual use. Likewise in education, students use computer a lot. It expands more into a problem solver for things that cannot be deciphered in the old days. Those revolutionize an era of modern education. Fourier Transform is one of many contents explained in the Signals and Systems subject and in Digital Signal Processing. It has a fundamental and general role to understand the more specific subject for more advanced class in electrical engineering. Because of the moderate difficulty in manipulating data and compute the function in manual ways with pen and paper, it is easier to be done with a computer. This final project research about the Discrete Time Fourier Transform (DTFT) and the Discrete Fourier Transform (DFT) and analyze the results as a helper application done in MATLAB with Graphics User Interface (GUI). Writer takes some function commonly used and important to be able to customize the values and results. The functions used in this final project are the exponential function, sequence function, sawtooth function, cosine function, sine function, random function, and n times exponential function. By displaying Fourier Transform in GUI, it is expected for the junior students still in their early years to understand about it more and thoroughly.
