Abstract

Rainbow fish's existence is getting scarce and it is feared that it will extinct in near future. Information about the viability of rainbowfish reproduction can be used to improve the rainbowfish farming. This research aims to explain in the viability of boesemani rainbowfish (Melanotenia boesemani) reproduction conducted at the Research Institute for Aquacu,ture and Ornamental Fish Development (BPPBIH). Steps in this research were measure the diameter of the eggs, fecundity, fertilization rate (FR), and hatching rate (HR). Results show that the boesemani rainbowfish females have an average body weight of 3.370 ± 0348 g had fecundity ranged between 227-506 grains. Diameter boesemani rainbowfish eggs in the gonads have different sizes, while the diameter of the eggs are expelled when spawning ranged from 1.05-1.14 mm. FR value boesemani rainbowfish on average 100% and the value of HR ranged between 70-90%.
