Abstract

Nowadays, all countries around the world are moving toward the implementation of Digital Television Broadcasting System. Thus, a receiver antenna becomes one of important element that is needed in inhabitant houses. As we know, most of indoor television receiver antenna that used in Indonesian society (in analogue broadcasting system) is Yagi-Uda antenna. The other types of conventional television antenna including Yagi-Uda antenna have quite large dimension as an indoor television receiver. Therefore, the development of an omnidrectional antenna design which have characteristics such as compact size, portable, low cost, and easily fabricated as an indoor digital television receiver is needed. Fractal antenna is one result of the development of antenna design technology that has unique characteristics when compared to other antenna types. Repeated geometries or type fractal antenna using two or more scales (iteration method) became a key aspect of this antenna design. Therefore, fractal antennas can be designed in small sizes, so it has very useful applications in cellular telephone and microwave communications. The research of this final project will describe the design of fractal antenna by using von Koch geometry and ACS feeding technique as an indoor digital television receiver. The modification of von Koch initiator shape also has been done in order to get the optimum result. The antenna design has been simulated by using the simulator based on finite integration technique of computation and fabricated on the FR4 microstrip board with r ? = 4.4 and thickness of 1.6 mm. The simulation result shows that the proposed antenna design can work 100% at television frequency based on DVBT2 standard (478-694 MHz) with a wideband characteristic. The fabricated antenna design has been measured in term of return loss and it can be used especially as an indoor digital television receiver at terrestrial TV bands in Indonesia.
