Abstract

Autonomous mobile robot (AMR) is one of robotic fields that have moving capability towards certain point without human intervention. In this research, the AMR built is a robot that has capability to park autonomously in the parking lot. This AMR was designed using AVR ATMega8535 microcontroller, ultrasonic sensors, IR sensors, LDR sensor, micro switch sensors and dc motor. ATMega8535 AVR microcontroller is used as a control center. The main priority is to get the information from the sensor which detects the distance between the mobile robot and the obtacles, where in this case is the wall of the parking lot. The existence of obtacle is detected using the ultrasonic sensors and IR sensors. The obtained data from the sensor is then compared to the set point stored previously in the microcontroller in order to make movement decisions on the dc motor driver to turn the wheels to get into the desired position. There processes are repeated until the AMR successfully parks in the parks in the parking lot. LDR is used to detect the parking lot and the micro switch is used to reduce the direct collision between the AMR and obtacles. The result of this final project is the mobile robot that can detect obtabcels in the parking lot, control the vehicle movement and reach the goal target. All those three parameters are used as an input perception system so it can plan the motion as expected effectiveley.
