Abstract

The rapid growth of High Net Worth Individual and upper-middle class in Indonesia has increased the demand for investment products. People are more aware of the impact of inflation to their asset’s value. This condition creates opportunity for wealth management business. By providing wealth management service, bank can rise their fee-based income and attract more consumers. However, sharia banking industry has not catched this opportunity and still focus on providing financing products and services. This paper propose a concept called “Goals-based Islamic Wealth Management” as a new business unit and perfecting the current wealth management practice. We believe that by running this business, sharia banking will upsurge their competitive capability and expand their market share. By reviewing recent studies on this issues and SWOT analysis we will explain the concept of Goals-based Islamic Wealth management, it’s application, advantages and worthiness. The result of our analysis shows that this concept is worth to be implemented by Indonesia sharia banking industry.
