Abstract

Smart building can facilitate remote management of electronic appliances, automation control systems of the building to improve comfort, security, and also to manage the electrical energy consumption. Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) is implemented to monitor and also regulate the energy consumption of electrical equipment in a house such as Air Conditioner, lights and others electronic devices. WSN is a networks comprised of sensing, computing, and communication elements that provides the ability to monitor and control the condition and phenomena in a specified environment. This research implements the multi-sensing WSN for Smart Building system. WSN design is built for system monitoring, controlling and automation for some appliances such as AC, electronic appliances condition, the existence of human and temperature in one room in a building. The prototype simulates three Sensor nodes with four multi-sensing functions, communicates with one Coordinator node as the monitoring center. The flexibility of frame which had wide range of data slot makes communication with API frame based is beneficial to be implemented. The hardware implementation was tested and bring the result of temperature error reading is below 5%, and Passive Infrared Sensor (PIR) successfully detected the human in a room with an average time delay is 2.8 seconds with the maximum range is 5 meters. The monitoring and controlling function is then displayed in monitoring center
