Abstract

Limestone mining industrial areas known to have high levels of animal and plant diversity is low. Because the composition of the soil and the environment do not support animal and plant life, including insects that generally have high levels of diversity. Information on insects in the limestone mining industry is still very limited. It is necessary for the identification of insect research in order to determine the diversity of insects in the limestone mining industry. Insects have an important role for the environment, one of them as bio-indicators of environmental conditions. The study was conducted in the mining industry lime Palimanan West Java with four-point research sites (1,2,3,4 pond and rice fields) were conducted over 30 days, using sweeping and malaise trap. The identification process until the phase orders and families conducted in Division of Zoology, Research Center for Biology, LIPI, Cibinong Bogor, West Java. Based on the results thus obtained as many as 2572 specimens of insects. Results identification morphology indicates that these insects belong to the 7 order that, Coleoptera, Diptera (2 families), Hymenoptera (14 families), Hemiptera (2 families), Lepidoptera (6 families), Odonata (4 families) and Orthoptera (4 families). Some specimens of the Order Diptera most commonly found with a total of 1214 individuals (in the pond 4), and the Order Odonata as many as 778 (in 1, 2, and 3 ponds).
